About

What we are

OpenPolicyLab.com is a next-generation, AI-enabled think tank focused on international policy challenges through a Swedish and Northern European perspective.

We work at the intersection of research, data, and policy. Artificial intelligence is a core part of our analytical process, enabling us to systematically aggregate academic research, analyse large-scale datasets, and assess real-world policy outcomes across countries and systems. This approach allows us to develop policy analysis that is faster, broader, and more cost-effective than traditional think tank models — without compromising analytical rigour or quality.

Our work spans key policy areas critical to long-term societal resilience and competitiveness, including education, healthcare, housing and family policy, fiscal and economic policy, energy and climate, crime and justice, and defence and security.

OpenPolicyLab.com is politically independent and free from party affiliation or vested interests. We focus on what works in practice. Evidence from research and international experience often points toward pragmatic, cross-bloc solutions that combine market mechanisms with strong public institutions.

Our ambition is to strengthen evidence-based policymaking, reduce polarisation, and bring high-quality analysis closer to real-world political decision-making by combining modern technology with sound analytical judgement.

How we differ

OpenPolicyLab.com is positioned at the intersection of research, technology, and public policy. While many think tanks focus on individual policy areas or national debates, we take a cross-sector and international approach grounded in Swedish and Northern European experience.

Our work spans education, welfare systems, economic and fiscal policy, energy and climate, crime and justice, and defence and security. We focus on how these policy areas interact — and on the trade-offs that shape long-term societal outcomes.

We are politically independent and evidence-driven. Rather than starting from ideology or party positions, we prioritise research, data, and evaluated policy outcomes. In practice, this often leads to pragmatic, cross-bloc solutions that combine market mechanisms with strong public institutions.

Artificial intelligence is an integrated part of our analytical process. By using AI to synthesise international research and analyse large datasets, we are able to work faster and across a broader scope than traditional think tank models, while maintaining analytical rigour through human judgement and review.

Our ambition is to strengthen evidence-based policymaking and contribute to a more long-term, less polarised public debate.
